THE BRAND
ABOUT ALEA JACTA
Founded in 2025 by Marianna Fasoi, Alea Jacta is a contemporary, limited-edition knit accessories brand rooted in craftsmanship and modern design.
Based in Athens, Greece, Alea Jacta merges contemporary knitting with leather-making to create distinctive accessories that celebrate texture, materiality, and sustainability. Each piece is produced in small, carefully considered runs in the family's knit lab, often using eco-conscious yarns and refined details.
The brand’s designs balance practicality with bold material expression, creating accessories meant to be worn, used, and felt—objects that invite tactile engagement while remaining functional.
The name Alea Jacta, meaning “the die has been cast” (Greek: Ο κύβος ερρίφθη), reflects the brand’s decisive creative ethos and commitment to pushing knit accessories beyond convention, blending heritage craftsmanship with a forward-looking aesthetic.
THE STORY
Knitting heritage
Alea Jacta was born from a story that began long before the brand itself. Its roots lie in a family deeply connected to knitting, where the craft was not only a profession but a way of life. Decades ago, the founder’s grandparents established a small knitwear business, passing down knowledge through hands-on practice, repetition, and care.
As years passed, this traditional family workshop transformed into a family-run knit lab—an evolving space shaped by curiosity and experimentation. Techniques were tested, machines adapted, and craftsmanship continuously refined, allowing tradition and innovation to grow side by side.
Today, Athens Knit Lab remains the creative and production heart of Alea Jacta. It is where inherited skills meet modern machinery and design research, and where generations of experience are translated into contemporary knit accessories. Each piece carries the memory of the past while looking forward—honoring the legacy it comes from and the new possibilities it chooses to explore.
Craftsmanship
A Dialogue of Materials
At the heart of Alea Jacta is a rigorous approach to craftsmanship that brings together two disciplines: knitting and leather-making. Traditional knitting techniques meet contemporary methods, pushing the material beyond its limits to explore strength, structure, and durability alongside texture and expression. Knit becomes both an engineered and a tactile material.
All products are made in our family-run knitting factory in Athens, where generations of expertise guide every step of the process.
Each knitted form is paired with carefully crafted leather details, developed in close collaboration with skilled local artisans. The leather reinforces the knit, adding structure, contrast, and resilience. This dialogue between materials allows each craft to elevate the other, resulting in accessories that are both expressive and enduring.
Sustainability is central to the process. Alea Jacta works with recycled and eco-conscious fibers, producing in limited runs and combining them with locally sourced leather. The result is thoughtfully constructed accessories rooted in material integrity, longevity, and respect for both craft and environment.
